Body Positivity

I like to have dance parties with my children.    It's our thing.    My daughter can belt out some good lyrics.    This is our current "on repeat" song.

If I had to choose which child keeps me on my toes more... it's definitely Nora.   Nora has an intense curiosity and virtually no fear.    Elliot thinks everything through.   Nora is my bug loving, dirt-digging, tree-climbing gal.    She also used to be a bit of a nudist but I think we got that under control.

A frustration I have in the "parenting a girl" world is clothing.    If you go to Carter's (just an example) you will see girls have tight leggings, white tops, no pockets.    My daughter is such a mix and has no issue wearing "boy clothes" because they're more durable for her.    It's amazing how the "unwritten rules of society" start in the clothing and toy aisles.

I had heard about this book and just had to get it.

I've read it to Nora about six times today and I even went LIVE on Facebook for a reading.

Seriously... if there is a little girl in your life... or even a teen girl.... do yourself a favor and BUY THIS BOOK.    You won't regret it.   I promise.

First Classroom Circle - Community Building!

On September 15th, I facilitated our first official classroom circle of the school year.   I told students about us being in Circle all week...
